Adoptions or Fostering in a qualified, non-breeding home is required. In order to ensure that an animal is placed in the environment best suited to meet his/her needs, all applicants must successfully complete the Adoption/Foster placement process. All placements will be made in the best interest of the animal and the adoptive family. The Foster Placement Process requires:
1. Completion of this form
2. A brief foster tutorial on-line (will take about 15 minutes) by the potential adopter. Instructions sent after application is completed.
3. A pre-adoption home consult with an FPR representative.
4. A home visit with the animal you want to adopt in his/her foster home
5. If the match is agreeable by both the applicant and FPR, a signed an adoption contract and paid adoption fee will be required before the bird is released. You can then take your new family member home!

Please be advised that all dogs and cats in the home MUST be up to date on rabies, parvo/distemper and heartworm testing, and those vaccinations needed for felines. Also all birds in the home must have had a wellness check up with gram stain within the past year. We cannot, and will not, process any applications if your pets are not up to date. If you fill out the application and your animals are not current we again cannot process your application UNTIL all pets are brought up to date, therefore you delay your adoption/foster process. By continuing this application, I affirm that I have checked with my current vet that all animals including birds, are up to date on yearly wellness checks and applicable vaccines.

Please understand that Florida Parrot Rescue works out of a network of foster homes spread throughout the state of Florida. As part of the adoption process, we do require that adopters go to the foster home to meet the bird(s) they may want to adopt so we can make sure the match is right. This also applies to people who would like to adopt from out of state – we do not ship birds. Please understand that a visit does NOT necessarily mean an adoption will take place, we must deem the visit to be a successful one where both you and the bird show a positive interaction. We do also require that the entire family meet the bird(s) being considered for adoption. Please also understand that all parrots remain under the legal guardianship and protection of Florida Parrot Rescue and that you will be signing a contract upon adoption which states that you can never give away, sell, breed, or trade your parrot(s) - all birds must be returned to Florida Parrot Rescue if you can no longer care for him/her (except in the case where a bird is inherited by a family member who agrees to honor the contract you sign upon adoption).*
