Surrender a bird
As this is a personal decision, we ask that you contact us directly on the matter of surrendering your bird for adoption so that we may deal with it on a case by case basis. We wish to help you through the process so that you may have a better understanding of what we do and be comfortable with your decision. Please understand that due to limited and finite space in foster homes, that we are usually on a waiting list for incoming birds, please e-mail us for details on how relinquishment works.

*INTAKE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED AS WE ARE FULL AND HAVE A WAITING LIST THAT IS 3-6 MONTHS LONG AT THIS TIME – PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND WELL IN ADVANCE OF NEEDING TO SURRENDER*
If you need guidance while searching for another rescue or for a sanctuary, you can e-mail us for a list of items to consider while doing that research. We do not make recommendations as we feel that each bird and each situation is unique and the owner of the parrot should research what is best for their individual animal.
Florida Parrot Rescue’s Relinquish Fees:
- There is a minimum relinquish fee of $10.00 for small birds
-
There is a minimum relinquish fee of $25.00 for medium birds
-
There is a minimum relinquish fee of $50.00 for large or extra large birds.
(If rehoming due to financial circumstances, please let us know, and we can work with you!)
Also, due to the economy, and the fact that all of our volunteers donate their time to the rescue, if your relinquished bird and his/her cage (we do require the birds cage be relinquished with the bird) has to be picked up by a volunteer, we request $0.30 per mile driven to cover that volunteer’s gas expenses.
