“SPIKE”
Quaker Parrot
Adoption Fee $50 or $100 with Cage

Spike is a sweet little Quaker Parrot who is very young, less than a year. He will offer his foot and “step up” when asked. Sometimes he repeats “step up” after you say it. He doesn’t say any other words, but we think he is trying to learn to talk since he mumbles parrot gibberish quite often. He will laugh if he hears you laugh and he enjoys climbing around outside his cage, and he does not have any cage aggression. He is nippy sometimes when you try to remove him from your shoulder. Spike would love to sit on your shoulder all day. He likes to groom you and occasionally nips a bit too hard, but he is still young and learning proper parrot behavior! He has never really bit us. He enjoys being near you, and is typically quiet when he is outside of his cage. He is quite vocal when he can hear you but not see you. His vocalizations are softer than those of larger birds. Spike is currently being transitioned from an all-seed diet to a diet made up of pellets, fruits and vegetables. So far he likes corn, sweet potatoes and quinoa. His veterinarian says he is a “very good bird!” If you are looking for a friendly, loving parrot companion, Spike is your bird!

“LUCY”
Quaker Parrot
Adoption Fee $50 or $100 with Cage
Hi my name is “LUCY” I’m between 5 and 6 years old, best guess by the vet. My foster moms say I’m a sweetheart. I’ll laugh and chuckle right along with you and I love to watch cartoon or any t.v, the housewives series keeps me mumbling and talking all afternoon (See everyone is a critic). It seems I spent most of my time in my cage before I came in to rescue and didn’t get out at all so I’m very leery about leaving it now. Like most Quaker’s I can be cage aggressive but will nudge your hand away instead of a bite. I will come out and sit for awhile if you pretend not to see me and if you can get me off the cage I love to sit on your shoulder and will step up very nicely. As you can see I have plucked almost all of my chest and under wing feathers. The Doctor thinks most of these are permanent and will not grow back (but we all know bald is beautiful!) I’m learning about fruits and veggies and foster mom is trying to change my seed diet to pellets. She thinks that once I get past my shyness I’ll be a wonderful forever friend!! |

“SCOOTER & PEE WEE”
Quaker Parrot and Lovebird
*bonded – must be adopted together*
Adoption Fee $75 or $125 with Cage
Scooter and PeeWee are a bonded pair of fids, Scooter is a quaker and Pee Wee is a lovebird. They have been in foster for almost 2 years. Scooter is estimated to be approximately 10 years old. PeeWee’s age is uncertain, but estimated to be 4-6yrs old. They have been together in the same cage since PeeWee was introduced at a young age and are bonded and are to remain together.
Scooter is your typical quaker in that she is territorial of her cage and her “things” so if you put your hands in her cage, expect to be confronted by her beak! She can become quite loud when she is scared or startled, but it doesn’t last long. She “mumbles” like so many quakers. Some words you can figure out and some not. I know Scooter is a she because she has laid a few eggs since being in rescue. Scooter enjoys playing with her toys, especially the ones with bells and she will come out of her cage if you leave the door open. Once she is out of her cage you can get her to step up and if you take her in another room she is a very different bird.
PeeWee is a real friendly little bird. She will step right up, give kisses, and will sit on your shoulder all day long if you let her. She is very gentle when out of cage but has become a bit nippy once or twice when I was messing with her toys and things inside the cage. It could be because she sees Scooter react that way whenever you get close to the cage she goes on the defense!!! PeeWee sleeps every night in a birdy bunk and she is very playful and interacts well with humans. She is equally as comfortable with me as my husband and has never bitten us. Both birds are both on a mixture of pellet, seed, dried fruits and nuts. They enjoy a few people foods like english muffins with peanut butter, pasta, rice, grapes and apples. We have tried some others, but this is what they have accepted so far.
If you are looking for fun birds, these two may be just for you. Please contact us with any questions!

“XENA”
Sun Conure
Adoption Fee $75 or $125 with Cage

Hi, my name is “Xena” and I’m a 6 year old sun conure. I’m a little bundle of energy and when I’m happy I make clicking sounds. I’m not afraid to let my owners know when I need something. I have many cues when I want something; I will peck your shoulder gently when I want your attention, suckle on you when I’m hungry or thirsty, cuddle with you when I’m tired and when I like something and want you to keep doing it, I click. I love music and will even dance. I don’t have a particular favorite type of music, but I will let you know if I like what you are playing. I especially love it when you sing to me. I think I’m a person and I love to eat out of your hand, drink out of your cup and eat right off of your plate. I seem to like men more than females but I still let everybody hold and cuddle me. I am perfectly ok around children and dogs as well as other birds. I know how to say “What” and “Hello” and I have learned to bark like a dog. I love to be around my family and will be happy just to ride on your shoulder. I hope that I can become part of your family soon! |

“MAMA GUMP”
Quaker Parrot
Adoption Fee $50 or $100 with Cage
Hi, my name is Mama Gump and I’m a Green Quaker Parrot. I’m very shy and a little cage aggressive (hey, I’m a quaker after all!), but I will take food from your hand. I am on a pelleted diet with fresh fruits and veggies and some nuts. I may look a little funny though because my wing was broken at one point in my life and I wasn’t treated by a vet, but it doesn’t cause me any pain and I am just fine! My name was Buddy, but after I laid eggs, my mom changed my name to Mama Gump! Won’t you come meet me and then take me home?

“PACO”
Quaker Parrot
Adoption Fee $75 or $125 with Cage
Paco is a Quaker or “Monk Parrot”. He has the capabilities to talk and sing but at this point he does not- he makes a lot of chirps & clicks so far . He should open up and become more vocal as he feels safe in his new surroundings. He needs a confident handler as he is cage protective (typical quaker!) but as sweet as can be once away from his cage. He will scoot around on your neck going from shoulder to shoulder. Please read up on these adorable birds to see if he will fit into your life style!

“PACO”
Jenday Conure
Adoption Fee $75 or $125 with Cage

My name is Paco. I’m a Jenday Conure and I just celebrated my 5-year hatch date. My original family couldn’t keep me because of construction on their house. I am learning to get along with my foster family and for now prefer my foster dad over my foster mom, but I’m coming around. I can say “What” and I can bark like a little dog, but mostly I just mumble. It makes sense to me, but my foster family is still trying to figure out what it all means. I like riding around on my “dad’s” shoulder and grooming his hair. When I’m feeling good, I also like to bob my head. I’m a bit cage defensive, but once out of the cage, I turn into a teddy bear. My previous family had me on a seed diet, but my foster family is making sure I don’t miss out on all the goodies that I was not familiar with by introducing new food to my diet. My foster mom thinks I’m a “diamond in the rough”. My foster dad thinks I’m already a good boy. I’m good with kids and dogs don’t scare me either. If your family is looking for a loving, mumbling, grooming, colorful conure, I’m your bird!

“SAMMY”
Senegal
Adoption Fee $250 no cage available
Greetings humans! I am Sammy the Senegal and I am here to invade your life. No? Okay. Well, I can talk and I sound like other Parrots. In my previous home, I was never out of my cage nor was I given much attention. I get scared when out of my cage and will try to get away. Foster mom picks me up in a towel and scratches my head until I stop shaking. My foster parents are working with me to gain my trust. They are showing me different foods to eat instead of just sunflower seeds. (Doc told me I was overweight.) Like most Senegal Parrots, I am quiet and very intelligent. I am independent, but I really don’t like being alone and hope you have other feathered kids for me to talk to. I can’t wait to find my new mommy and daddy and soak up all the love they will give me!

“KIWI”
Cinnamon Chested Green Cheek Conure
Adoption fee $75 or $125 with Cage
Kiwi is about 2.5 years old, and is a cinnamon-chested, green-cheeked conure. She is a young bird and not well socialized. She is learning to trust me, and has a very playful spirit. I call her my squeaky bird. She loves to chitter chatter at you. We play games, she will stick one foot through the cage bars and attempt to grab your finger. It’s very charming until she leans down and bites! She is a bitey bird right now, and I do get bitten every day. She appears to be doing this in play, and I correct her with a “No”! It is a slow going as I try to show her acceptable ways to play. She has only bitten me hard once. She is mischievous and can open her cage doors, so we use plastic clips to keep them closed. She is very cute and endearing, even though she bites! She sleeps cuddled up to this fuzzy toy that hangs from the top of her cage. She also steps up. She has potential to be an awesome birdy companion once she settles down a little!

“CHEERIO”
Goffins Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with Cage
Cheerio is affectionately called “brat” by his new foster mom. He is a goffins cockatoo that is an adult and guessed to be under the age of 20. He is a real lover and wants to be with you, but will pretend to bite when you have him step up. We are working on better manners in that regard. He also likes to pipe in with a squeal or two when he is feeling ignored. They say dynamite comes in small packages and this bird is no exception to that rule! Cheerio also has a small injury that is healing nicely on his chest. His foster parents are working on converting him to a better diet and on his overall feather condition.
UPDATE: New pictures of Cherrio (last 3). We have never seen a bird feather in so quickly! Goes to show what the right vet care, the proper diet and plenty of socialization and love can do for a bird! Yay Cherrio!!

“RENO”
Green Cheek Conure
Adoption Fee $75 or $125 with Cage

Reno is a sweet green cheek conure. He likes his own space so should not be too close to other birds. As you can see from the pictures, he does have missing feathers on his chest, but they are growing in quickly and he does not appear to be a plucker, we think these were pulled out by another bird in his previous home. He is learning about new foods and has been converted to a healthy diet of pellets with fresh fruits and vegetables, he especially loves red grapes. He loves to be out of his cage and roam around on you and he does bob his head up and down like he is dancing. He’s a great bird for a first time bird owner as he is so easy to care for and is a great eater and in excellent health!

 |
“PEPPER” Nanday Conure
Adoption Fee $75 no cage available
Pepper came into the rescue with a very limited history. In fact, foster mom gave Pepper his name and he is suspected to be male. We do know that Pepper had a Quaker as a cage mate. As it turns out, we fostered the same Quaker and find it really cute that Pepper makes the same sounds! So, we call him our Nanday that thinks he’s a Quaker, lol! Pepper isn’t as vocal as many Conures are and for the most part, quiet. He loves attention and is very affectionate. He will let you scratch him all day long if you could. He has an outgoing personality and not really scared of much. We’ve been working on his diet and trying to get him to try fruits and veggies. Ladies be warned, he loves diving down into your shirt. Such a little flirt!

“Little Guy” Senegal Parrot
Adoption Fee $250 Or $325 With Cage
Little guy is a wonderfully sweet Senegal Parrot, still young, less than a few years old and extremely affectionate. He loves to hang out on your shoulder and snuggle with you and will go to anyone. He is being converted to a more nutritious diet of pellets with fresh fruits and vegetables as opposed to the seeds he was accustomed to eating previously. He does talk some and picks up on words and sound imitations very easily. He is not bothered by other animals, including other birds, and he is very entertaining and fun to be around! As you can see, he does have feathers missing around his neck, but we are hoping that with time, he will allow those to grow back in. If you are looking for a fun, animated and affectionate small bird, then Little Guy is for you!

“CHLOE-GIRL” Goffin Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage
This sweet, 15 year old Goffin Cockatoo is Chloe. She came from a breeder and is permanently plucked around her neck and head area, although she no longer plucks. She is lovely and gentle and would, not only make the perfect first bird, but she would be a great bird for an older child. She steps up and is the more quiet of the Cockatoos. Goffin Cockatoos are not known to be talkers but eventually can learn to say a few words or repeat some sounds such as a microwave, etc.
Are you willing to spend an hour or more per day with Chloe, hanging out and maybe watching some tv? She is highly trainable and loves having her head and face scratched and caressed. She loves playing on the top of her cage or on her play stand. She also enjoys toys that she can demolish! She’s a great eater and eats pellets and seeds plus carrots, squash, rice and even chicken, lettuce and spinach!
Contact us to set up an appointment and meet this elegant Goffin named Chloe.
You’ll be glad you did!

“ECHO aka FLOWER” Green Cheek Conure
Adoption Fee $75 Or $125 With Cage

I’m a very pretty little Green Cheek Conure, my foster says “I’m pretty as a Flower”, hence the name. I’m four months old, small in size but huge in personality! Quite a firecracker I’m told. I like hanging upside down in my cage or off of my foster mom. I visit mom on her bed when I’m called and sometimes even if I’m not I decide to drop by to see what’s she’s doing. Mom scratches me under my chin and can even get me to roll over so she can scratch my belly. I’m a little nippy or my Dad just tastes good, it could just be my age, I’m very curious you know. If you have a little patience and lots of love to give me
I’m sure I’ll blossom into something special!

“COSMO” Goffin Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage
Cosmo is a Goffin Cockatoo, he is approximately four years old. He would love to belong to an active family who has plenty of time to give him attention. Cosmo loves to cuddle with anyone and steps us easily, he is a very sweet bird! He is currently being converted to a healthier diet with pellets and fresh fruits and vegetables, his favorite treat is pinenuts or slivered almonds. He does not realize that he has no wing or tail feathers and can not fly, but he is now downy all over and we hope he will allow the feathers to grow back in with time, the proper diet and plenty of toys (he loves toys!). He did have some sores on his skin when he came into rescue, but they are almost completely healed up now with downy feathers growing in over them, he has made a great deal of progress in his foster home. He likes to have plenty of attention in the evening and then to be put in his cage and told it is time to go to bed and then he is very quiet!

“FLETCHER” Goffin Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage
Hello Bird fanciers; you have seen people that age so well that they do not look like their age? This is the case with our sweet Goffin Cockatoo, Fletcher. He is 32 and does not look or act like it, even the vet was very stunned when he went for his annual physical. Because of his age he is very level headed and will be a great addition to your family when you gain his trust. He comes from a background where he was not handled very much and we are working to correct this, his new foster was able to get him to step up and hold him for about a hour on his 1st day in her home. He craves neck scratches and if no one is available to do it, he will take a Popsicle stick and scratch his own neck. All he asks from you is Love and Companionship. Won’t you please take the time to read about Goffins and how they will fit into your life, or better yet, because he is not a typical Goffin, please ask us any questions you have about him as we are always happy to answer!

“KIZMET” Hahn’s Macaw
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage
Kizmet is a two year old Hahn’s Macaw. As you can see, he has plucked his chest feathers, but he is downy and it appears he may allow them to grow back. Kizmet is a typical Hahn’s, he can be a little pushy and is always trying to get into trouble (tried to eat my pencil, my keyboard, the mouse, the buttons on my shirt, my cup, my phone, the remote, etc… obviously he likes to chew on things and will need A LOT of toys at all times and to have them changed out often for variety!) but he is a VERY nice bird! He does seem to prefer men, but will go to women as well. Once he trusts you, he will step up for you and will try to steal food off of your plate! He will eat pellets and almonds, but so far doesn’t seem interested in fruits and vegetables, we will keep working on that! Kizmet can talk a little, so far he has said “Hello” and we suspect he can talk more as he makes various other sounds. Kizmet does want A LOT of human companionship, he would like to be out of his cage and on your shoulder 24/7! We are trying to teach him that on the hand or in the lap is a better alternative to the shoulder. Kizmet does not appear to be a screamer although his calls can be loud, which is normal. Kizmet seemed a little scared of dogs and cats at first, but he has now gotten used to them and seems fine around them, other birds also do not bother Kizmet. Hahn’s macaws are the smallest of the Mini macaws, measuring about 12-14 in length, but they have all the sass of the big boys! They are not beginner birds for sure! Hahn’s do need training and can be nippy at times, so they do take a lot of patience. Hahn’s can live to be 40-50 years old, so if you decide to adopt Kizmet, he would be a life long companion!
UPDATE ON KIZMET: Kizmet is a great bird. As you can see from the new pics he is starting to let his feathers grow in and he is starting to enjoy showers with me as well. He now only seems to like me (a woman) and although he will let one or two other people move him from point A to point B, he is definitely a macaw in the true sense as he chooses one person he really likes and that is the person he wants to cuddle and be very affectionate with. Once he chooses that person though, he is very trusting, you can do anything with him and he is comfortable with it. He will make a great companion and I really believe that in about a year as long as the proper diet and socialization continue, his feathering will be perfect.

Jack is usually the one to try to take away Chester’s toy or anything to get a squawk! Jack likes to ride on your shoulder and nuzzle in your hair. Jack and Chester both enjoy sitting on kids fingers and being petted and talked to. Neither birds talk but have their own language when you come into the room to say your hello or goodnight. “SNOW FLAKE” Goffin Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage
Snow Flake is a lively, funny, silly and VERY loving little Goffin Cockatoo. She is a bit shy and does not really understand the “step up” command yet but is working on that with her foster family. She loves head scritches and being cuddled up nice and close, but STRONGLY prefers men. Don’t be fooled though, she is the typical Cockatoo and can get bratty. Don’t let his size fool you though. There’s a lot of cockatoo in that little body!
She has not shown any aggression but can be loud when feeling ignored. He also speaks, but only she knows most of the words, lol! But, if you are looking for a spunky but loving little friend, Snow Flake just may be the perfect bird for you!

“TIKO” Nanday Conure Mix
Adoption Fee $75 Or $125 With Cage
The vet describes Tiko as a Nanday Conure Mix, he definitely has a lot of nanday in him but also a little of something else that she is not sure of, either way, he is just gorgeous! We think Tiko about 7-10 years old and he is in great health. He is a bit larger for a Nanday, but so handsome! He steps up and loves to spend his days sitting on top of his cage, standing in the doorway of his cage playing with his favorite toy or shredding the paper on the bottom of his cage and re-arranging it to suit Tiko’s preference. Behavior: Tiko will “Step-up” for you as long as he is out of his cage. He is very intelligent and sweet but will need someone to teach this willing student to express himself and converse with his for-ever “flock”. He really likes to do loop to loops on his favorite perch! He is OK with Dogs…ignores them really…they are not worthy, lol! Just a great bird who will make a great lifetime companion!

“BUDDY & DAISY”
Sun Conure & Dusky Conure
**bonded pair – must be adopted together**
Adoption Fee $150 Or $225 With Cage
Buddy is a 6 year old sun conure. He is a friendly boy who will step up. He makes all kinds of noises, but has yet to talk, even though he was said to know how to say “Get me!” and “nite nite!” He loves to sit on your shoulder, and loves any out-of-cage time. He enjoys the company of his cage-mate Daisy. Daisy is about 3, and is a Dusky Conure. She emits a high pitched teakettle whistle to get attention. She loves to be out of the cage, with Buddy in sight. They are bonded and sleep together on a perch. They love to chew and exercise their beaks! They will bite holes in your shirt, so designate a few bird shirts, sew on some buttons, and watch them have fun with all the different textures! They love to groom people, especially ears. They can be nippy, but stop when told “No”. They can be nippy also when they think they’ve been in the cage too long. They are very opinionated! They are a lot of fun and have such personalities! No shy birds here! Please note that Daisy does NOT like children and will bite them, not nip. Buddy also loves to bathe in his water dish.

“HANDY & NORMA” Bonded pair of Quaker Parrots
**BONDED PAIR – MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER**
Adoption Fee $100 Or $175 With Cage
Handy and Norma are truly “bonded” Quakers who have been vetted and have been on a pellet diet. Handy has an old injury to his wing but it does not effect him. They both have their wings trimmed and are currently working on stepping up and socializing. They both sleep in their little tent and don’t move around much without making sure the other one isn’t far away. They preen each other a lot and are constantly chitter chattering to each other. They have their wooden toys they love to chew on and devour their millet when given as a treat. They like sunning themselves and napping in their tent. They would make entertaining little companions if you have the tine and patience to show them the love they need!

“JACK & NIPPER” Quaker – Bonded Pair
**BONDED PAIR – MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER**
Adoption Fee $100 Or $175 With Cage
Hello – meet Jack and Nipper. These are two very feisty Quakers with a lot to say. Most of the time they say “Whatever!” but they have quite a vocabulary when they get going. They are very attached to each other so they definitely need to stay together. Jack is the nicer of the two, and you can hold him and love him as long as Nipper is not within reach. Nipper is extremely protective of Jack and can be aggressive but he is just protecting his buddy! Both birds are stick trained. They are on a diet of fruits and vegetables and also Zupreem pellets. They adore their bath and would sit there all day getting misted if they could. They get out every evening to play with the other birds, though they mostly stick together. These two little guys will require someone who understands Quakers and appreciates their eccentricities.
Think these two cutie pies are for you?

“PEACHES” Goffins Cockatoo
Adoption Fee: $350 no cage available
Peaches is a goffin cockatoo who is estimated to be about 10-12 years old. She can be handled, if she likes you (you know how cockatoos can be!). She steps up when asked to by her chosen person, and even dances and makes a few noises such as kissing and clucking. She likes being held against your chest and for you to scritch her head behind her crown feathers. She is eating wonderfully in her new foster home and will make a great addition to any family, she just needs a little more work on her social skills, lol! She does have some feathers missing around her ears and it was deemed by the vet that she has a yeast infection, which she is being treated for and will overcome soon, so hopefully those feathers will grow back in with the right diet. None the less, she is a doll baby and will make a great companion!
