Medical hold on this bird - inquire for details

Yo – Beebes here! I’m a very friendly, inquisitive 5+ years grey (maybe older). Love my groceries, like my baths, am good with dogs and other birds. Haven’t met the cat yet but I think I could take her – she sounds like a wus. I’m not real fond of men if they don’t have some food in their hands (I will bite, sorry, I just prefer women). I was a little traumatized after my vet visit yesterday (had my wings clipped and a couple of other indignities that I don’t want to mention) but today, I’m back in fine form. I love to whistle and if you whistle back at me, I can keep it up for hours. I don’t talk much except to say “whatcha doing” in what Sooz (my foster Mom) says is my Donald Duck voice, but since my whistle is so beautiful, who cares what my voice sounds like? I do have a heart murmur and am on some medication right now, but I am still adoptable and want my own forever home, so come meet me, you won’t be sorry!

Rorry Umbrella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“RORRY”
Umbrella Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $400 or $650 with cage

Rorry is a wonderful umbrella cockatoo, he (?) is about 3 years old and loves to climb down and walk over to you.  He will step up, kiss you and says his name. He does occasionally bite unexpectedly, but is learning that he does not have to do that.  He is not cage aggressive at all or fearful and likes to play with the dogs in his foster families home. He will eat just about anything and is enjoying a healthy diet of mixed pellets, vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice and chicken (among other things, he really will eat anything you give him!).  As you can see, he has plucked, but has come out of a very stressful situation and we are hoping that with time and the right diet, he will curb this behavior, although on some parts of his body, the feathers may not grow back.

Skeeter Severe Macaw available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“SKEETER”
SEVERE MACAW
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with cage

Skeeter is a beautiful Severe Macaw (also known as Chestnut Fronted Macaws), the largest of what is known as the “Mini-Macaws”.  Severe Macaws can live to 30 years, so this little guy will be around for many years to come.  It is thought that he is probably around 10 years old.  Severe Macaws tend to be comical and relatively friendly, with a large personality.  Severe Macaws are very intelligent and bond quickly with their owner.  They would love to hang out with their “flock” (owners) at least an hour per day but should at least be let out of their cage for 2-4 hours daily to stretch their muscles and exercise their beaks and wings.  These birds are generally not known as great talkers but what they lack in talking ability.  Of course, once adopted, he’ll need a sturdy cage, plenty of variety in his diet, including fruit, veggies, pasta, grains, well cooked eggs, white meats and pellets.  I would love to introduce you to Skeeter so please complete the application and I’ll be happy to introduce you to this beautiful bird named Skeeter!

Stevie Red Lored Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“STEVIE”
Red Lored Amazon
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with cage

This Red-Lored Amazon, Stevie, is an extremely sweet and gentle bird, not to mention his beauty!  He may be around 9 or 10 years old.  He is a loud bird when he calls to his flock (you).  He loves interaction with humans and seems to adapt well to men or women.  He doesn’t perch on a hand very well,  but we are working on it.  He is intelligent and speaks a few phrases, such as “Hello”, “Hi”, “Whatcha doing, huh?”, “Pretty, pretty bird”, “What are you doing here?”.  He loves to wolf whistle and will also whistle the opening bars of “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells”. He is a great eater and is eating pellets, vegetables and fruits.  This beautiful bird will not last long so please complete that application if you are interested in meeting Stevie!

“PRETTY BIRD”
Double Yellow Head Amazon
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with cage

HELLO!! Hello!! My name is “Pretty Bird”  I’m a 30  (I think) year old double yellow headed amazon, I am just getting used to this new place here and I am starting to see that these “people” are kind of nice to have around– I am very shy about stepping up as I haven’t been handled a whole lot!  But I have decided all these hands have been gentle, so I play nice too. I have been through a lot;  my right foot had been broken or fractured in the past and never treated -so sometimes I lose my balance, I have also plucked out all of my back feathers ( it’s cooler that way)– and I also had to have something removed from my beak, but it’s getting better! I also have a heart murumr, so would like to live in a quiet home please! I love to mimic the phone to get you to come running (hehe–still have my sense of humor) and I say “hello” , Pretty Bird”, and I laugh, and of course I LOVE to EAT— anything you give me, and if your cooking or eating something I want I will make an alarm sound until you share! All I want is someone that will love and cherish me forever!

Lucky African Grey available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueLucky African Grey available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“LUCKY”
African Grey
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with cage

Lucky is 12 years old and had been with her original owner for that entire time, however, due to his work schedule, he feels he hasn’t had enough time to spend with her. According to the previous owner she began destructive behavior a few months back. She has been chewing on her feathers so they aren’t perfect. She is very friendly, prefers my husband to me, but is very cooperative with me too. She loves to get out of her cage and will walk around on the floor going room to room until she finds you. Also, she is very inquisitive about my birds and has taken a liking to one of my greys. She is very good with imitating sounds, she likes to dance and does speak a few words. She is on pretty bird african grey pellets, dried fruits and nuts. She also likes grapes.
If you are looking for a grey that is friendly and playful, then perhaps Lucky is the bird for you!

Peter Red Lored Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“PETER”
Red Lored Amazon
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with cage

This little guy is quite the character! He loves to play and explore and is curious about everything. However, he is very skittish of people. He is going to need some time to learn to trust. He loves to come over and talk to you as long as you don’t make any movements towards him. If you move, he runs. He is a bit of a picky eater, but we are working on introducing different foods to him. He makes all kinds of interesting noises and is interested in everything that is happening around him. He is looking for an experienced amazon home that has lots of patience, and bundles of love.

Sundance Double Yellow Headed Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueSundance Double Yellow Headed Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueSundance Double Yellow Headed Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“SUNDANCE”
Double Yellow Head Amazon
Adoption Fee $350 or $550 with cage

This bird has been adopted

Sundance is a 30 year old double yellow headed Amazon. While Amazons are known for their talking ability, Sundance is not a talker and the potential adopter should not expect him to speak. That said there are many other reasons to love him. He is gentle and funny without being very needy. He appreciates a variety of foods and likes to quietly play and observe all the action in the home. Sundance has been converted to a healthy diet of pellets with fresh fruits and veggies and some nuts. He is very healthy and still has a long time to share with a family (up to 30 more years!).
Charlie Sulfur Crested Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“CHARLIE”
Sulfur Crested Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $400 or $650 with cage

Charlie is a Sulfur Crested Cockatoo who is about 10-15 years old. He was attacked by a Macaw in a previous home and is missing part of his top beak. The vet is working on trying to make that beak grow back in a little better, but he will probably always look like this and will require regular visits to the vet for beak care. What he lacks in Good looks, he most assuredly makes up for with a great temperament though! Although still a bit shy Charlie is beginning to open up to his new foster parents. He is slow to step up but is not against a good head scritching! At present we are working on the “step up” command and also working on getting our friend Charlie on a better diet as he came into rescue on a seed only diet.
Baby Umbrella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueBaby Umbrella Cockatoo for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“BABY”
Umbrella Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Baby is a very affectionate Umbrella Cockatoo. He is slightly conceited, as any handsome cockatoo should be! He says, “I’m a gorgeous boy!” He also says, “I’m a good boy”, “I love you”,  “Hello”, and “Hello bird”. He is accustomed to being treated like the baby of the family and he is a HUGE Cuddle Bug. He demands plenty of attention or he will express his displeasure by screaming for you, but his foster mom is working hard to change this behavior. Baby has plucked some of his feathers, many of his missing feathers will likely grow back with the help of behavioral enrichment and good nutrition. He has been converted to a diet of pellets, nuts, and fresh vegetables and fruit. Baby, like all cockatoos, can be very loud. He needs a forever home that understands and appreciates the nature of Umbrella Cockatoos. He needs plenty of love and time outside of his cage. Baby is good around children and dogs.

You can view a YouTube video of Baby, here.

Update: Baby is regrowing many of his chest feathers.

Sophie Yellow Nape amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Sophie Yellow Nape amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot

“SOPHIE”
Yellow Nape Amazon
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage

If you are looking for a funny, showy, sweet Amazon, then you need to apply immediately, before Sophie is gone! This Yellow Nape Amazon says things like “Hello Sweetheart”, “Yabba Dabba Do”, “Want something to eat?” and more. She even sings “Let me call you Sweetheart; Oh how I love you!” Having come from Texas, well, that is just her favorite song.

Sophie will go to anyone, but of course, you’ll need some experience with Amazons because she is typical of her species and will do what she wants if you are not firm with her, like a typical two year old! She loves hanging out on the top of her cage and would love to do that all day. She also loves bananas, apples, nuts, seeds, carrots, spinach, broccoli, spaghetti, chicken and so much more.

So, make an appointment to meet Sophie. You will definitely fall in love!

Quasimoto Amazon for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“QUASIMOTO”
Red Lored Amazon

Adoption Fee $175 Or $275 With Cage

Quasimoto will need a lot of one on one attention, he recently lost his mate, and he’s a bit confused. He has a ruptured air sac which will require avian vet visits to drain the air. The rupture seems to be healing. He whistles a lot and makes bird noises. He will need some rehabilitation now that he is a single bird. The person who adopts him will need a lot of patience’s and be able to spend lots of time with him, that’s what he needs right now. Eventually with lots of time, he will trust his adopter, and will be a great addition to the family.

Roxanne Umberella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“ROXANNE”
Umbrella Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Roxanne is a 19 year old female Umbrella Cockatoo. She was raised and lived with the same person until a family crisis forced her owner to give her up. She has begun plucking her chest in addition to being in the beginning stages of self mutilation. While she is a very gentle and loving bird with the person she chooses, she has a lack of trust of others and can be possessive of her chosen person. This lack of trust manifests itself into fear and the possessiveness has resulted in biting behavior. Fortunately, her self mutilation behavior is already starting to subside and soon her behavioral rehabilitation can begin in earnest. She will need a lot of attention and care to keep her healthy for a very long time to come as this species can live up to 75 to 80 years! She will need an experienced owner with lots of avian knowledge!

Ticklebird Yellow Naped Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“TICKLE BIRD”
Yellow-Naped Amazon

Adoption Fee $350 or $550 With Cage

Tickle bird is a jumbo Yellow-Naped Amazon. She is about 15 years old. She came from a family that raised her from a baby. She seems to have a dual personality and does not like women. Whenever she is upset or wants attention, she starts screaming out the names ALAN, or ROBERT, or JAMES and also HELP and OUCH. These behaviors are easily dealt with by speaking to her quietly or distracting her with music or games such as step up or what I call punch ball (a ping pong ball that I suspend for her to punch at.) She can sometimes be a bit hand shy and will give a good little bite when approached too quickly. Foster mom has been attempting to change the aggressive behavior with soothing words, giving favorite treats and being the one to change out food and water. This seems to be working as she is a bit less aggressive towards her. But will still try to chase after her and bite her feet when out. She is a very fast runner! The other side of her is a soft speaking, playful and curious little girl. Her vocalizations are mostly mono syllable like GOOD, WATER,
FOOD, DOG, WHATEVER, OK and ALRIGHT. She also seems to have endless phone conversations, sometimes lasting up to 15 minutes. And when the phone rings will say HELLO. One of her favorite games to pull her cage cover sheet inside of her cage and wrap herself up in it like a cocoon then jump out and squawk. She loves to imitate Stevie Wonder while dancing to music and will sometimes comment on what is going on the TV by saying OOAHH or OOOOO or ALRIGHT. She does not seem to be bothered at all by the presence of our dog or cat and does not seem interested in other birds. She does come with a large (2’x3’x4’) cage that cannot be broken down.

Stella Bare Eye Cockatoo for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“STELLA”
Bare Eye Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $350
Or $550 With Cage

Meet Stella! At the moment, Stella doesn’t care to be held and is quite independent until she wants something. She loves crackers and seems to really like fresh fruits as well. She whistles with you and loves to dance. If the radio or TV are on and there’s a beat she will start bobbing her head. She recently has picked up a new dance that involves jumping and spinning. It’s very cute. She doesn’t mind being touched and loves the back of her neck rubbed, but if she doesn’t know you she will try and snap at you and then laugh. She is not aggressive, but will let you know if she does not want to be messed with. She loves being out of her cage and outside on the porch. Her wings are clipped but she can still fly pretty well. She gets along with dogs and cats and is not afraid to try and land on them to play. She doesn’t seem to care for toys and would rather play the game of throw everything off the table/cage and watch you pick them up and put them back just so she can throw them again. She’s pretty quiet until dinner time which to her is around 8:30 or 9:00 and then she lets you know shes hungry. She gets a diet of pellets and mixed veggies and fruits daily. She doesn’t like green beans, peas or lima beans. She loves her corn and carrots. I think she will make a great family addition for just about anyone. A family with older kids might be better for her though.

Rico Blue Front Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueRico Blue Front Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueRico Blue Front Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“RICO”
Blue Front Amazon

Adoption Fee $350 or $550 With Cage

 This bird has been adopted

HI! My name is Rico! I am a 25 year young Blue Front Amazon. I love fresh fruits and vegetables. I never really had any toys before, so right now I am just learning to play and so far I think I really like it! I really like forage boxes and shredded paper! I love scratches and grooming! I am pretty quiet for an Amazon, but my favorite noise to mimic is a dog barking. With a little coaxing and prodding I will step up on your arm with only a few nibbles as I do not seem to know what step up means, but my foster family is working with me on that. I am now eating a better diet of pellets too. I also do not mind other birds, cats, dogs  or even kids! I need a new forever home, won’t you adopt me?

Snowy Umberella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“SNOWY”
Umbrella Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Snowy is 35 years old and came into the rescue from a loving home of 25 years. His owners felt they could no longer provide the attention he needs and made the very difficult decision to have him re-homed. Snowy is a very sweet and loving Cockatoo. He is a little hesitant at first but with a little nudging will step up, once you pick him up he is a Cuddle Bug! Snowy does not talk, but he does make the sweetest coos and occasionally will laugh with the family. Snowy does pluck his abdominal/chest area but his feathers do still grow back as the follicles are not destroyed. We have not seen him pluck since he came into the foster home, so hopefully they will grow back. Snowy will step up to anyone and wants to kiss everyone! He enjoys being outside sitting on the ‘front porch swing’. Please remember that this species of bird can live to be 80 years or older and needs a lot of attention on a daily basis. Snowy will make a great addition to your family and still has many years left to devote to you!!!

Stewie Sulfer Crested Cockatoo for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“STEWIE”
Sulfer Crested Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Stewie is a beautiful 5 year old Sulfer Crested Cockatoo. Sulfer Crested Cockatoos are native to Australia and New Guinea and can live upwards of 70 years in captivity! These birds are naturally curious creatures, as well as very intelligent and require a lot of interaction and socialization on a regular, daily basis. Cockatoos in general are demanding pets, they require a devoted owner and continuing obedience training from a young age and with the right owner can be very affectionate and loyal. Unfortunately, Stewie isn’t trusting people right now, but his foster family and friends are working with him daily to gain his trust (a work in progress), but we know that once he regains trust and that he is just going to blossom and be one of the best Cockatoo’s ever!

Jacob Umberella Cockatoo for adoption Florida Parrot RescueJacob Umbrella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“JACOB”
Umbrella Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Jacob is a Special Needs Bird, and will only be adopted out under very special circumstances.

Jacob is a sweet and friendly Umbrella Cockatoo. He loves attention and will dance and sing with you or for you! He can also say his name in a variety of voices and loves music and playing with his wooden toys. He does not like men however and will bite them. Jacob is fully feathered and has a great appetite; he is being converted from a seed diet to a diet consisting of a variety of pellets, fresh fruits, veggies and nuts. Jacob has had surgery three times, and is a very special needs bird. He will not be adopted out to just anyone as a result. He does require daily cleaning of his cloaca due to the prolapsed surgeries he has undergone, which he tolerates fairly well. Jacob is a mild screamer and will need more work with that behavior. He will require an extremely experienced Cockatoo handler.

Ollie Red Lored Amazon for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“OLIVER aka OLLIE”
Red Lored Amazon

Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage

My name is Oliver, Ollie is my nick name. I’m around 33 years young, been an Red Lored Amazon as long as I can remember even though the vet says maybe I have a little bit of Lilac mixed in there somewhere. I was a beach bird and spent most of my time outside even though I have no problem living indoors. I purr like a cat when the vacuum is running and bark like a dog just because I can! I was eating mostly seeds but I’m getting a little more variety here at my new place, pellets with some veggies to compliment my seeds. I’m definitely “eye candy” and I think I like my foster dad better than I like my new mom. I tend to have some cage aggression especially towards her. I very much enjoy sitting on dad’s shoulder while he’s on Facebook or while he’s walking around the house. I also enjoy sitting high atop my perch observing everything while looking sooooo good! I’ll probably need an experienced bird person to be my forever guardian so if you want a beautiful bird with a little bit of attitude I’m the one!

Ringo Yellow Naped Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

RINGO” Yellow-Naped Amazon
Adoption Fee $350 Or $550 With Cage

Meet Ringo, a Yellow-Naped Amazon, What can we say about Ringo? Well, he’s a typical Amazon! Amazons have very strong personalities. He is cage aggressive and doesn’t like to be handled at this point in his foster care. Progress can be slow but this bird is extremely intelligent and can be a social and happy guy with the right amount of socialization, diet, fun in the sun, human interaction and of course, affection. Ringo gets along with other birds. His foster mom says that he will step up to a perch and then your arm. But that’s a step forward for him. He says “Hello” in many different voice and he has the potential to learn a lot. He/she hasn’t been DNA tested for sex yet, so we don’t know the gender. Amazons’ diets are a little different than most parrots, they need more “natural” foods such as root vegetables like carrots, beets and sweet potatoes. Ringo can be the “ diamond in the rough” for an experienced Amazon handler, not to mention he is one handsome boy with an excellent feather presentation!

Holly Umberella Cockatoo for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“HOLLY”
Umbrella Cockatoo

Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

My name is Holly, but should have been named Howie as I am big beautiful boy. I’m under ten years old and probably about seven or eight. Recently I have had a few moves, but I’ve settled in very nicely in my new foster home. Seems I really enjoy hanging out with other cockatoos and they helped me feel at home.

I am big, sweet and gentle, but like all umbrella cockatoos I can have a stubborn side. I do tend to be a bit of a ladies man, but I love all people no matter they be man or woman. I’m on a pelleted diet supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables and I’ll eat just about anything else you would like to share. I’m looking for a home that knows we cockatoos are amazingly loveable, but have a few traits that need to be forgiven at times. We are dust producers, can be loud at times, love to chew anything and everything available which could include furniture and if you don’t watch my body language I can nip. Give me a chance to show you how great I am and you’ll see that my negative traits are really not bad compared to the love and entertainment I provide.

Elvis Umbrella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueElvis Umbrella Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“ELVIS”
Umbrella Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Elvis the U2 is about 4 years old. He was with the same owner since he hatched. Elvis is learning his birdie manners and how to interact with us, he has a very strong U2 personality. Elvis has quite a vocabulary and will ask “where have you been” or “what did you bring me” when you come home. He also says “I love puppies” and picks up what you are saying very quickly.  In the last week since he has been here he says ‘hey babe” and “I love Elvis”. He is not much of a screamer but will let you know if he is bored. Elvis needs someone who isn’t afraid to take charge and work with him. I am trying to teach him to step up but will definately have to work on this for a while. Elvis has a long life to live and needs a forever home. Won’t you change his life forever by being his forever home?
Update on Elvis:  Elvis is really coming around and is doing very well with his training.  We feel that with a little more training, he will make an excellent companion!

Buddy Double Yellow Head Amazon available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“BUDDY”
Double Yellow Head Amazon

Adoption Fee: $350 or $550 with cage

Meet Buddy! He is a 25yr old double yellow head Amazon. He is a little scared of hands, but he is very sweet. Once he gets to know you and you build a trust with him, he will let you touch him, but until then, he is very happy interacting with you from his cage. He will sing and dance with you. He loves to talk! He clearly says “Hello”, “Come In”, “Come Here”, “Bye Bye”, and “It’ll Hurt”. He is not aggressive at all, just scared, but he is getting better every day. He is now on a pellet diet with fresh vegetabes and fruits. He LOVES cheese, blackberries and blueberries, he is also a big fan of bananas. I have not found a veggie that he just loves but he will eat just about anything you put in his fruit bowl. He does not need to be handled constantly to be happy, he just needs someone to play and interact with him everyday. He is fascinated by kids, he will go to the bottom of the cage and make all kinds of crazy noises trying to get them to play with him. When he talks to you, he will go to the top of his cage and turn upside down and shake his feathers. Buddy still has a very long time to live and as you can see, he is just beautiful! He will provide you with companionship and love in return for the same!
