Extra Large Birds For Adoption

Chloe Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue Chloe Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue Chloe Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueChloe is an 11 year old Moluccan Cockatoo who was released to Florida Parrot Rescue due to a severe medical issue of one of the owners, they were distraught to have to give her up and she was a very well loved and well cared for bird. Chloe adjusts pretty well to new situations, other than a few small rough patches for a couple of days in the beginning involving some nipping, she settled in quite well and is not aggressive at all. Chloe is fully feathered and loves attention! You can trim her wings and toenails easily and she loves to be held and scritched. She is very happy on her tree stand and is usually quiet as long as she can see you. She also likes spending time on the porch soaking up the sun, but really prefers being with her people. Chloe eats a balanced diet of mixed pellets (not colored) - she likes to soak her pellets in her drinking water so her water needs to be changed several times a day. Chloe also likes most fruits and vegetables, but likes her veggies slightly cooked. She will eat almost anything that you have on your plate, which is a good reason for you to eat healthier! She is a little unsure about the birdie bread, but we are working on it slowly. Chloe is a little loud in the early morning and around bedtime – but this is very normal for cockatoos. As with all cockatoos, she would not be good for an apartment or other close living quarters. Chloe’s vet visit went well and she was declared in good health - the vet also commented on her great feather condition! Anyone that is thinking of adopting her should be aware of the dust/dander problems and not have pre-existing allergies and be aware that with all cockatoos, they can be very loud and consistent in their demands for attention.

Bandit Blue & Gold Macaw available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

” BANDIT”
Blue & Gold Macaw
Adoption Fee $400 or $650 with Cage

Bandit is a 20-25 year old Blue & Gold Macaw who came to us recently from an emergency intake of several birds out of the same home. While Bandit is obviously missing quite a few feathers (that most likely will not grow back), she has been given a clean bill of health by our vet. She does need more bathes and a better diet to eventually improve the condition of the remaining feathers, but we are working on that J She is loving her new pellet blend diet along with lots of fresh veggies, fruit and nuts. She especially loves bananas! While she is not yet easily handleable, she shows a keen interest in interaction and is showing a lot of improvement in the short time she has been with us. She has a wonderfully clear speaking voice and can say “Hello”, “Goodbye” and she quacks like a duck, she is very funny! The previous owner said she likes to bite you and then say “ouch”, but we have not witnessed this behavior while she has been with us. Bandit has huge, soulful eyes and we feel that with time, patience and an owner understanding of macaw behavior, she will become a great companion!

“MARGARITA”
Blue & Gold Macaw
Adoption Fee $400 or $650 with Cage

Margarita is a small and shy female blue and gold macaw. She is on the younger side, around 15-16 years old and has a large vocabulary. She was surrendered due to noise issues, however, we have not had any issues with her noise level while in foster. She is actually a very quiet macaw – but this could change once she settles in more. She displays keen interest in the activities around her and seems to enjoy the company of other birds nearby. She is stick trained, but she does take time before she will trust new people and step up for you. She does love her head scritches though! She is starting to learn about toys and swings and especially loves her stainless steel cylinder bell – she usually tinks the bell lightly instead of speaking or squawking to get your attention. She has been converted to a healthy diet of mixed pellets with fresh vegetables, nuts and fruits – she is a great eater. Her vet check went wonderfully and she is healthy and ready to be adopted!

Champ Moluccan cockatoo for adoption Florida Parrot RescueChamp Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueChamp Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueChamp Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot RescueChamp Moluccan Cockatoo available for adoption Florida Parrot Rescue

“CHAMP”
Moluccan Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $400 or $650 with Cage

Champ is a real character and has never met a person he did not like. He has a wonderful disposition and is a real “velcro” bird. Champ would hang out with you all day long if you let him, he just needs time to get used to you and any people need to go very slow with him. He did not come to us from an ideal situation and he has some insecurities because of that. He is however a typical Cockatoo and can be LOUD when he is feeling ignored, but for the most part, he is a fairly quiet bird, for a cockatoo anyway! As you may have noticed, Champ does not have tail feathers and he will not grow any (we call him the buttless wonder!). He had a wound in that area which has long since healed but destroyed all follicles, however, all the plumbing works just fine! Champ has been converted to a healthy diet of pellets, fresh vegetables and fruit. He enjoys nuts as treats. He will try anything you offer. He is especially fond of sweet potatoes.

Champ WILL NOT do well in a home with other cockatoos, he does like being around other birds, but NOT other cockatoos.  He also does not like to be around other birds that are very loud. He is fine with other animals though, such as dogs.  He is fine with men or women, but he does prefer men.

Champ is under the age of 10 (best guess) and although he may not be the prettiest bird, he sure does have character and will make a great companion for the right family! Everyone who meets Champ falls in love with his sweet personality.

Moluccan Cockatoo
Adoption Fee $400 or $650 With Cage

Medical hold on this bird - inquire for details

Jo-Jo is a 30+yr old Male Moluccan Cockatoo. He has had several homes and will need a special person to love him and provide him a quiet atmosphere to spend out his days. Jo-Jo does have cataracts and because of the sight loss, he startles easy and has to be approached so that he knows you are there, or he will lunge and bite. However that is not his general tendency; it is just a fright response as a result of a startle reflex. We are still working on getting him onto a good diet and he does have some over-grooming issues, but he is otherwise healthy. He is a very boisterous bird (he does currently have some noise issues we are working on) so please know what you are getting into; while his general nature is that he is a sweet bird, please understand he will need an experienced Cockatoo person/family!

“KAIRI” Blue & Gold Macaw
Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Kairi is an 11 year old blue & gold macaw. She is looking for a home with previous macaw experience that can help her work through some of her fear issues and help her with her manners. Given a chance she can be a very sweet, affectionate bird willing to cuddle and give kisses. However, she is also stubborn at times and fearful of people who approach too quickly. With some patience, calm reassurance and a little firm but gentle discipline she’ll be a treasured and loyal companion. Kiari is a great eater and is currently on a diet of Zupreem nut blend, tropican, veggies, fruits and some nuts. She’s a great bird looking for that devoted macaw person to come along and make a positive difference in her life.

“KIKI” Blue & Gold Macaw
Adoption Fee $400 Or $650 With Cage

Hello all – Kiki here! I am a very nice, handsome fellow – I know many ways to say hello and my name, have several different laughs and am learning some Spanish (hola) and French (bonjour). I love to talk to you and I love to eat – what macaw doesn’t? When I first got here, I was eating a seed diet – now I have pellets, fruit, veggies, nuts and sometimes a bit of yogurt or scrambled egg. As you can see, I don’t have all my feathers. Some of them have started to grow back in – the ones on my chest are just lovely. I’m about 25 years old and still have many good years ahead of me. Head scratching is one of my favorite things! I get a little anxious out of my cage but I do like to explore, so once I can wander around a bit, I’m good to go! I’m not a screamer and do love to interact with you once I’ve made your acquaintance. I’ve been working on step up and am good at taking food from your hand. I’ve a lovely wooden toy that I’ve been redesigning (it needed some work) and a couple of new perches. If you think I could be your forever bird, I would really love a LARGE cage with toys and perches, time with you and also some time outside in the sun. I’ve been thinking I should try a harness, then I could go for walks and bike rides and all sorts of other fun adventures, but I’ll think abut that some more while you decide if we could be forever friends!
